RALEIGH, N.C. — September 10, 2025 — From September 19 through October 26, 2025, Friends of the Raleigh Greenway (FRoG), in partnership with Raleigh Parks, is launching a fun, city-wide scavenger hunt across the Capital Area Greenway. Hidden throughout the trail system are 15 hand-decorated frogs and critters, along with notable locations and art installations — all waiting for participants to discover.
Hunters will locate these items using trailhead clues, scan QR codes to log their finds, and earn points toward prizes. Weekly drawings will be held for participants, and special prizes will be awarded to the top finders. No account is needed to log QR scan finds.
This event is designed for everyone — families, casual trail users, and longtime greenway lovers. Portions of the greenway are stroller-friendly, and all clues, maps, and landmarks remain in place for the full duration so participants can move at their own pace.
FRoG is also partnering with Oaks & Spokes and the City of Raleigh to host two community rides during the scavenger hunt:
- Saturday, Sept 27 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Starting at North Carolina Museum of Art, route to Shelley Lake and back (~16 miles at social pace).
- Saturday, Oct 11 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Start at Anderson Point Park, ride to Chavis Park and back (~21 miles).
These rides are free, family‑friendly, and no pre‑registration is required. Just bring your bike, helmet, and a spirit of adventure.
